Montcalm County Cooperative Schools of Choice Program

The Montcalm Area ISD Countywide Schools of Choice Program has been designed to guarantee all applicants a fair and equitable opportunity to attend a school of their choice other than their resident district.  This agreement exists within MAISD and Montcalm County school districts as listed below and those contiguious ISD school districts as listed outside of MAISD service area.

Montcalm Area ISD Cooperative Schools of Choice Program - Open Enrollment Agreement

Montcalm Area ISD and its member districts have operated under the MAISD Countywide and Contiguous ISD Cooperative (Inter-District) Schools of Choice program agreement since the school year 2023-2024. 

The MAISD Schools of Choice application windows for the first and second semesters of the 2026 - 2027 school year are:

First Semester:  July 1, 2026 - September 11, 2026
Second Semester:  December 1, 2026 - January 8, 2027

Parent Notice

The Parent Notice provides details about the enrollment process, provisions, and requirements to be considered when seeking to enroll in another district other than the resident or home district. The Parent Notice is companion piece to the Schools of Choice application. 

SOC 2026 - 2027 Application

The 2026 - 2027 MAISD Cooperative Schools of Choice Application for Enrollment is to be completed by parents/guardians and submitted to the central office of the school district where they wish to have their child(ren) attend.  It  must be submitted during the Schools of Choice open windows listed above as articulated in the MAISD Cooperative Schools of Choice agreement.

District Release Form 

This form must be used when the resident or home district is not a participating district.  Participating districts are listed above.  The parent will complete this form and submit it to the central office of the school district where they wish to have their child(ren) attend.  It  must be submitted during the Schools of Choice open windows listed above.

MAISD Countywide & Contiguous ISD Cooperative Schools of Choice Cost-Sharing Agreement

This agreement is for school administration only and must be obtained prior to acceptance under Schools of Choice. This requirement complies with IDEA (PL 108-446).

The Cost-Sharing Agreement is to be used when a Schools of Choice application has been received for a student who has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and whose resident or home district is outside of the Montcalm Area ISD service area and the school disricts within Montcalm County.
