Computer Aided Drafting & Design

  • Turn ideas into products using the same design, drafting, and 3D modeling as professional architects and engineers.

  • Work independently and in teams to research, develop, implement, and demonstrate prototypes.

  • Invent unique solutions to complex engineering and architectural challenges.

This class will give students an authentic grasp of the fields of drafting (CADD) as they apply to both mechanical and architectural drawings. Throughout the year, you will use the computer and its software as a tool to design technical, mechanical, architectural, and 3D (wireframe and solid) drawings that adhere to the drafting standards.   The first semester of class will concentrate on all aspects of drafting from mechanical to architectural, while learning how to use the tools and equipment properly. The second semester will focus on the application of the drafting skills learned in the first semester in a real world application.

What Students & Parents Are Saying

Tyler has been using his CAD skills on our newly designed tubes, seats, and other parts. I don't know what we would have done without him quite frankly! Thanks for everything you did with him - he learned and grew a great deal in the time he spent in your class. - Parent

I like the morning announcements when Mr. Johnson goes over every thing. It's nice to be able to have a voice in somethings as well. - Greggory

I like that you can explain what you were trying to do and see if it might work or not. - Michael
