MAISD Superintendent



The MAISD Board of Education finalized leadership plans in preparation for the December 31 retirement of current MAISD Superintendent Ron Simon. The board appointed Roger Thelen who will serve as the Interim Superintendent for a six month period of January 1 to June 30, 2020. Further, the board approved contracting the services of Michigan Leadership Institute to lead a superintendent search with the goal of hiring a superintendent to begin July 1, 2020. The board will begin working with the search firm in November. Roger Thelen is a retired school administrator. At the time of his retirement, he was the Superintendent at Central Montcalm Public Schools where he served for nine years. Roger is a member of the Board of Trustees at Montcalm Community College. He and his wife, Cheryl, live in Stanton.

Ron Simon was chosen during the summer of 2015 to be the superintendent for Montcalm Area ISD. Before his move to this position, Mr. Simon was MAISD's Associate Superintendent for Finance.  Prior to his service at MAISD, Mr. Simon was the Superintendent of Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools.
