English and Math
Junior English - Juniors are invited to take English Language Arts (ELA) at the MACC. ELA 11 meets twice a week, and students are pulled out of their CTE class for an hour and fifteen minutes at a time. Although the class meets twice a week, the workload will be equivalent to a typical five day a week class, with the expectation that students will be working on ELA material outside of the classroom. We focus on grammar, vocabulary, and reading, with an emphasis on SAT preparatory materials. Students are expected to read a novel of their choice each semester, and will participate in group discussions and journal writing throughout the year.
Senior English - Seniors are invited to take ELA as an online class at the MACC. All assignments and lessons are given through Google Classroom with supplements from other websites. Students will meet every other Friday for roughly 30 minutes and are required to check in with the teacher each week. Basic understanding of Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, and Slides), comfort with technology, and excellent time management skills are recommended for students who wish to take this class.
Senior Math - Senior math at the MACC is an option for students whose CTE program does not have math embedded. This includes students from Agri Science, Criminal Justice, and Health Science classes. Students are pulled out of their CTE class for an hour and fifteen minutes at a time twice a week. The workload will be equivalent to a typical five day a week class, with the expectation that students will be working on math material outside of the classroom. The senior math curriculum focuses on wages and paychecks, credit and lending practices, checking accounts, budgeting, taxes, and investments.
