MDE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT FRAMEWORK

Overview

The School Improvement Framework and its Rubrics are designed to help all school personnel, both professional and non-professional engage in serious and deep conversation about their schools, its curriculum, and its policies and practices as they relate to student achievement.

There are five levels of School Improvement conversations:

1. Awareness of School Improvement Framework (SIF) and Rubrics

2. Understanding of School Improvement Framework (SIF) and Rubrics

3. Application of School Improvement Framework (SIF) and Rubrics to school/building programs and practices.

4. Analysis of school/building programs and practices using School Improvement Framework (SIF) and Rubrics

5. Development of school/building School Improvement Plan, using School Improvement Framework (SIF) and Rubrics.

School Improvement Performance Indicators for Education YES! (pdf file - 48 KB)
OEAA and OSI presented the 39 Performance Indicators for Ed Yes to the State Board of Education in December 2006 and the Board requested that one more indicator be added, bringing the new total to 40 Characteristics. The new characteristic addresses the mentoring and coaching of new teachers and will be part of the statewide collection of data on the School Performance Indicators through Mi-Plan this spring. I have attached the document that identifies the 40 characteristics that comprise the new Performance Indicators.
