What is an ISD?

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “ISD”, you’re probably not alone. Intermediate School Districts, (sometimes called Regional Education Service Agencies/Districts), are often referred to as the “invisible partners” in the Michigan educational framework. But ISDs’ core customers … K-12 school districts … should know them well.

By pooling resources and providing services regionally, ISDs provide cost effective, high quality results. Every school district in the state is part of an ISD. Together, the ISD and its local district members determine the services needed to improve all student learning, service children’s special needs, develop teachers and other support personnel expertise, and connect with the greater community.

In this section we provide answers to the "hot topics" to help our community better understand the role of an "ISD."
